From the Latin word Calumnia

In Roman law during the Republic, calumnia was the willful bringing of a false accusation, that is, malicious prosecution.[1] The English word "calumny" derives from the Latin. The Roman legal system lacked state prosecutors; crimes were prosecuted by any individual with sufficient legal training who chose to make the case. Prosecutions were often politically motivated, but a prosecutor who brought an accusation wrongfully could be sued under the Lex Remmia de calumnia if the accused was absolved of the crime. In this sense, calumnia resembled a charge ofdefamation or libel.[2] The person found guilty of calumnia was subject to the same punishment the person he falsely accused would have received.[3]Calumnia (Roman law)
Judge Buys Votes

In Hernando County Florida there is a judge that presides over all domestic violence related charges. His name is Judge Kurtis Hitzemann and he sits on the board of directors for the Dawn Center, a women's advocate group and shelter. Okay, so no problem right? Wrong, he directs defendants to pay portions of their fines to the very organization he directs, in essence "buying votes" from the women's base. It’s called Amicus Curiae, and it means literally friend of the court. The Dawn Center operates within the Clerk’s Office giving legal advice (unlicensed) to women seeking domestic violence injunctions. They do the same for alleged victims of DV throughout the prosecution of the defendant. So I ask you, is this judge’s impartiality affected? Is it possible that his decisions are based on "who's watching"? What are your thoughts?
What would you think?
by Tom Lemons on 10/25/11My marital counselor at Faith Evangelical Free Church in Spring Hill, Florida decided to share private information with a third party without my permission. Although nothing was illegal, unethical, or obscene with regards to what he divulged about me, his comments raised enough probable cause to allow law enforcement to initiate an arrest warrant for me. Even though his statements were untrue, his opinion was trusted because he was a minister of a church. What are your thoughts?
